William JamesECCLESMR William James Eccles, of Tanpits Road, Accrington, died on Saturday, July 20, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 70. He started his career working for English Electric as an apprentice toolmaker before joining the army to work in a role in Royal Signals based at Catterick. He served in Ireland and Germany, training HGV drivers. After leaving the Army he joined the water board as a Superintendent up until his retirement. He was a member of the British Legion. He leaves brother Stephen, niece Tracey, nephew Jonathan and great-niece Ebony and great-nephew Bayley. A funeral service will be held at 12.45pm on Friday, August 9, at St Andrew's Church, Empress Street, Accrington, administered by Father Neville Ashton, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40pm. Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to British Liver Trust. Funeral director: Kirby and Hughes, Accrington.
