ColinCOURTPeacefully but very suddenly in his favourite place, his home, with his daughter by his side, Colin Edward Ormerod Court, aged 75, of Accrington. Dear son of the late Dorothy Alice, the devoted husband of the late Ann, the most loving father to his two daughters Yvonne and Joanne, and precious grandad to Katie and Annalise. Loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and families, and dearly loved best friends Chris and Steve, Sheila, Alan and the late Alf. Colin was born at home in the village of Baxenden, Accrington living with the late Dorothy Alice, mother, and the late Pamela Margaret, sister. He was extremely well known and loved in the small village of Baxenden and loved socialising with his many friends there, and enjoyed nothing more than a pint and a chat in his favourite drinking establishments. Colin had various hobbies, his favourite pastime was fishing and he travelled far and wide catching some amazing fish. He also enjoyed reading, but only his local paper or his fishing books. He had a love of TV and enjoyed a wide selection of programmes, especially nature programmes, documentaries, sports, films and the news. He was a man well known for his sense of humour and in particular the old classic comedies. He also had a passion for animals, mainly dogs, and had many dogs he loved in his lifetime. He enjoyed walks with his dogs as his companion. He really liked to visit animal sanctuaries and had a love for Bleakholt, which he liked to visit. Colin loved his holidays and had them all over the country with the late Anne and his daughters all through his childhood and into adulthood. He has a good knowledge of all the places in this country and the best places to go. He had a love of Torquay and Blackpool which always had such a special place in his heart. He had a love of cars and driving and took great care of and pride in his car. He has always had a severe fear of flying, but overcame this in his later life and enjoyed some holidays abroad with his treasured friends, and always thoroughly enjoyed himself. He enjoyed lots of days out visiting auctions, fishing ports and car shows. He loved his home, living there for over 40 years, and had lovely relationships with all his neighbours and he loved his friends calling for a brew, cup of tea, cake, biscuits or a chat. Colin enjoyed work and had many jobs from manual labour, retail, to managing his own shop! His latest profession, which he enjoyed for many years, was being a heavy goods driver all over the north, and becoming self-employed in the Tilcon company, gaining very valuable friends along the way before his early retirement. Colin was a quiet man but was popular and loved for his amazing strength of character and his great sense of humour. He lived for his family and his two daughters and granddaughters, creating wonderful memories both at home and on many cherished days out. A funeral celebration of his life will be held by funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, at Accrington Cemetery, Burnley Road on Monday, August 1 at 1pm, followed by a wake at the Alma Inn, Baxenden. Family flowers only; donations can be made to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, 48 Bridge Street, Ramsbottom, Bury.
