MathlanCOOPER CURRIEPeacefully at her home on Sunday, June 6, Mattie, aged 88 years, of Great Harwood. The devoted and much loved wife of Jack, loving and loved mum of Craig, adored mother in-law of Darina, cherished nana of Olivia, dear sister of Alex and John and a well respected friend to many. Born in Larkhall, Scotland, Mattie made the move to Lancashire in the early 1950s to follow her husband Jack’s career with Accrington Stanley. She secured herself a position at Graften’s dress shop in Blackburn before opening her very own ladies outfitters ‘Collette’s’ in Great Harwood. Through her work Mattie became a well known and respected lady in the local community. With her keen eye to detail and fantastic fashion sense people would travel for miles to browse her extensive range. Always a sociable character, Mattie was always surrounded by many friends and was a regular face at the Dog & Otter, where she loved to relax and enjoy a drink with her husband whilst catching up with her friends. Always young at heart, Mattie loved to get away and would jet off for some sun and fun any given chance and her favourite destination was Spain and the Balearic Islands. Most of all, Mattie was a devoted and hardworking family lady who always looked forward to quality time with those she loved. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 1.30pm at St Bartholomew’s Church, Great Harwood, followed by Interment at Lee Lane Cemetery.
