Uncle Bob. He was funny and kind, a good soul.

As a nine-year-old on holiday in Mallorca with my grandparents (Eddie and Muriel), my dad, Nigel, and Uncle Bob, we had a great time. One day, I struggled in the depths of the hotel pool. I gulped water and couldn't rise at all. Then Boom! Bob leapt in and pulled me to the surface and out of the pool. I'll never forget that rescue.

My memories of Bob were his cottage in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, and he loved the sourest green apples! And would get through many Mars bars and cans of Heineken beer. He'd have hilarious times re-enacting Monty Python or Faulty Towers jokes with my dad.

I only have one photo, and it was in Bath with the family. In Bob's sunglasses, we can see my dad with the camera, myself in the middle talking to my grandfather.

We lost many years, mostly due to distance, but he'll always be in my heart.
