Bill is fondly remembered as a lovely, gentle, unassuming man, a great walker and repository of wildlife knowledge. I wish Jane peace and a bright, happy future in which to carry her best memories of her lovely Dad.

We have known Bill for most of our lives and really value the friendship we shared with him, Margaret and Jane. Bill had a great knowledge of plants, birds and animals and related many interesting points he had seen on his walks. He had great pleasure from putting nest boxes up in the woods and the satisfaction of seeing them used. Whenever we go into Station Square we can all remember him - he built the lovely stonework for the clock in the roundabout. He was a lovely man, a good friend and will be sadly missed by Bruce and Evelyn Watson.

Our thoughts are with Jane at this sad time. 😔

So very sad to here that Mr Chapman had passed away. All my life I knew him as a kind and gentle man and I never heard otherwise, from anyone, Mrs Chapman was a lovely lady, kind and gentle and always happy, they were a perfect match.
He liked his mackerel and I enjoyed catching and taking him one most days throughout the mackerel season, I will really miss that. I’ll miss our little chats and the reminiscing about Saltburn, nature and the street.....happy days. He was a friend and a true gent....

How very sad to learn of the passing of Mr Chapman. A lovely gentleman with whom I occasionally exchanged small conversation across many years whenever we met. Mr Chapman was part of a kinder and polite generation. His loss will no doubt be deeply felt by those who knew him well. He is now reunited with his wife for whom he showed absolute devotion. I am sure he is at peace having lived a brave, honourable and purposeful life.
My thoughts are with Jane at this saddest of times.
