IanCAIRNSPeacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 4, Ian, aged 82, of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted and loved husband of Christine, loving dad of Jaqui, Stuart and Phillipa, dear father-in-law of Andrew, Jackie and Andrew, cherished grandad of James, Matthew, Robert, Alex and Rowan, and dear brother of Alec and family. Ian spent his working life as an industrial chemist working for many years at Baxenden Chemicals, from where he retired. He was always a highly respected member of staff and made many good friends within his tight-knit working community; Ian was immensely proud of his work and over the years has travelled across the globe sharing his vast knowledge and intelligence with others. Ian was a well known and popular local gentleman who gave much of his time to others through his work as Scout leader at All Saints and later as district commissioner for Hyndburn District Scouts. He was also a Justice of the Peace working for many years as a Magistrate at Accrington Courts. He was a lover of the outdoors and could often be found out with his beloved companion dogs in the woodlands. He was the most proud family man and doting grandad, and loved nothing more than gathering the family together sharing precious time creating wonderful memories. Ian also leaves his family at All Saints Church where he was a loyal and faithful servant giving his time as a lay preacher and church reader. Ian’s funeral service will be held at All Saints’ Church on Monday, September 13 at 10.30am, followed by private family committal at Accrington Crematorium.
