AnnieBARTONIt is with great sadness that the family of Mrs Annie Barton (Nee Smith), known as Anne, died at the age of 101 on Thursday 17th September, peacefully in Hollinbank House Care Home. Anne worked at Howard & Bulloughs/English Electric as a works examiner where she met her husband, George Barton who she married in 1952. Both enjoyed trips on George's motorbike for many years. Anne retired at 50 to spend time with her husband and pursued hobbies of sewing and crafts. Returning to Oswaldtwistle, in later life became an active WI member, joined St Mary's Choir and their activities. She enjoyed line dancing, bingo and crafts. Anne leaves a loving niece, Susan Fletcher and two grandchildren, Gayle and Paul Simpson. The funeral service will be held at St. Marys Church Oswaldtwistle at 10am on Thursday 1st October and 11am at Accrington Crematorium. Please make any charitable donations to Accrington Blind Society. A special thanks to all the staff at Hollinbank House Care Home for all the care and support they gave Anne during her long term stay with them.
