Leonard EdwardBARBERIt is with great sadness that Michael and Jonathan announce the passing of their father Leonard Edward (Len) Barber, who died peacefully in Cheltenham on 12th November 2025, aged 84.
Prior to moving out of the area a few years ago, Len had spent the majority of his life in Grimsby, where many will remember him from his working life at Compass House, North Wall Fisheries and Polarfrost Seafoods, or from his many sports-related activities, most notably with Waltham Park Bowls Club, Wolds Veterans Running Club and a lengthy association with the Grimsby and District Sunday Football League as both a player and an administrator.
In a typically modest gesture, Len had expressed the wish for a private cremation with the minimum of fuss. However, although there will be no formal event in Len's hometown to commemorate his passing, we are very aware that he was known and respected by many in the Grimsby area who knew him. He has asked for close family to gather and raise a toast to his life, and we would encourage any of Len's former colleagues or friends to do the same in his memory.
