IreneBAMBEROn Saturday, September 16, Irene Bamber sadly passed away peacefully at Hope House Care Home with her son Stephen by her side. Much loved mother of sons Stephen and the late Tom, Irene leaves behind cherished daughter-inlaw Brenda, much loved grandchildren Christopher and Sarah, treasured great-grandchildren Grace and Sadie. Irene worked in Woolworths when she left school and worked in various cotton mills and spent most of her life working at Barns and Rothwell in Church as a supervisor in the winding and spinning rooms. A lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, she spent time with Dean Desmond, maintaining, cleaning and arranging the flowers at the church. She loved flower arranging and had great success in many competitions and something which she continued to enjoy doing well into her later years. Fundraising for charities and good causes was an important part of her life and she was involved in raising funds on the committee for the Loyola Scout Group to build a new headquarters, and also on the Mayoresses Charity Committee along with fundraising for Scared Heart and St Anne’s churches.
Special thanks to Dr Bello and his team for all her care over the years and also Father Pat of St Mary’s, Clayton who attended Irene most weeks in her time at Hope House. Thanks also to all the staff at Hope House for their care and compassion, particularly in her final time there.
Her funeral will be held at St Mary’s Clayton at 11.45am on Tuesday, October 3 and afterwards at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm.
