BrianASHWORTHIt is with great sorrow and sadness that Ann and family have to announce Brian's death on the 8th April 2020. Brian was a devoted Husband of Ann, loving Brother of Margaret, Father of Stephen, John, Keith and the late Judith and a proud Grandfather and Great Grandad. Brian was a former Mayor of Rochdale, a Freeman of the Borough and served for many years as a local Councillor for Healey Ward, he also became the Chairman of Link for Life. One of his great loves was sport, both playing and watching. He played cricket and football with teams in Rochdale, he was also a local referee, a cricket umpire and a member of Lancashire CCC. A Modern Jazz enthusiast, he was Treasurer for the Rochdale Jazz & Blues Club - sadly no longer in existence. After his retirement Brian volunteered in our local branch of the British Heart Foundation. A kind and true gentleman, he was much loved and respected by all his friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed. Because of the current situation a private funeral service will take place on Monday 27th April whereby only close family members are allowed to attend. However when the situation has eased a Memorial service for Brian will be announced in order that his many friends and colleagues can attend. Further details will be given at a later date.
