ValerieALLENValerie passed away on Thursday 31st March. Valerie had taught at two Tamworth schools between 1964 and 1975 so she will be remembered by many Tamworth residents. After graduating from Goldsmith College in 1956 she taught at Ruislip Garden School in NW London. Her marriage in 1961 brought a move to Birmingham and a post at Sladefield School in Washwood Heath. Another move in 1964 brought her to Tamworth and a post at Moorgate Infant School where Mrs Hall was Headmistress. Always interested in pupils with additional needs she took a one year Special Needs Education certificate at Birmingham University and gained a post teaching the youngest pupils at The Park School in Wiggington Park with Mr F Bartlett as headmaster. Valerie taught there until this school was closed. Her final posting was to Queensbury Special School in Erdington. She retired in 1990. Valerie's funeral service will take place on Friday 22nd April 2022 10am at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium. Family flowers only please.
