I am grieving… I can’t believe it.
John, we usually spoke only briefly...
But now I want to say something… longer.

I knew you for 12 years and remember you in many ways. But always—with a smile.

John’s smile

– We are visiting the Adamsons in Yorkshire.
John shows us the garden he loved working in.
The garden is beautiful!
On John’s face is a proud but modest smile.

– We are at Masha and Neil’s wedding.
John is joking a lot.
People are teasing him good-naturedly about reading the Daily Express.
John gives a sly smile and replies that it’s the only paper worth reading.
Well, fast-forward to today... John, it seems you were right…

– Summer, our whole family is at a pub in Crouch End.
John is teaching his little granddaughter how to enjoy her drink: he takes a sip of beer, rolls his eyes, and exhales: “Aaaahhhh.”
Two-year-old Scally drinks juice from her cup and imitates him exactly. Everyone laughs.
Grandpa smiles with satisfaction…

John, even now I picture you smiling: boyishly… and full of life.

We will remember you, John Adamson.
We will miss you so very much.
Rest in peace.

John
Your untimely passing is so surreal, my tears have not stopped flowing. Me, you and Janet were enjoying a wonderful weekend at yours, sharing happy memories, albeit some poignant ones too. John , you were a father-figure to me and was always there for me in times of adversity.
Janet , my beautiful and loving sister I'm trying to share your grief and pain as much as possible, but I know words will not suffice. My thoughts are with you and John's memory xxx

Uncle Johnson, I still can’t believe you’re gone. Your daily funny jokes and memes always brightened my days, and your warmth will be deeply missed.
With all our love to Auntie Janet, Ian, Neil, Kerry, Maria, and your beloved grandchildren Brad, Emily, Scarlett, and Franklin.
Forever in our hearts —

Oh John…
We were just enjoying a lovely evening together, watching Scarlett, planning Christmas... How sudden. No rhyme or reason to any of it. In the 17 years that you've been my family, I’ve admired your kindness, humour, and grit... You live on in the piercing blue eyes of your beautiful grandchildren... Rest in peace
