Mum was a truly selfless person. She was intelligent, strong and incredibly resilient, and always put other people before herself. She was kind, patient, tolerant and quietly funny, with a wonderfully self-deprecating sense of humour.

Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer for almost 11 years, enduring multiple operations, procedures and chemotherapy with extraordinary strength and very little complaint. She was immensely grateful for the care she received and always conscious of not wanting to be a burden.

I will miss being able to pick up the phone and share stories about what we'd been doing each week.

We're raising money for cancer research in Mum's memory, in the hope that one day other families will have to face less of what ours has been through.

Despite the huge hole in my life now, I know that I was privileged and blessed to be able to share 57 years of life with my beloved wife Jean.
She was a truly wonderful person who always put the needs of others first. She had a quiet reassuring presence wherever she went and with whoever she was with.
She used her many gifts to be of service to others.
