Well Joe what can I say you had yourself a fine turnout for your final run. Just goes to show how loved and well thought of you were. It has certainly been a pleasure knowing you and being part of that extended family. I know my mother Allison was always very fond of you and Margret. Sleep well up there Joe im sure the rest of the Hawes mob are at the gates waiting to welcome you in.
till we meet again Joe

Joe or "Uncle Joe" as I knew him as child was such a large part of my childhood.
I have too many fond memories to mention from those early years.
Joe will always be with me in spirit.

Joe was one of the loveliest people I've met. This isn't because he was family, but because he was close to my mam Alison. Joe and Margaret always took time to visit my gran Mary Hawes wife to his Uncle Eddie.
I have fond memories of the time spent together with Joe during my time at Heaton Harriers but I will never run across the Yorkshire Moors again in the middle of the night!
The world has lost a true gentleman and will be truly missed. Rest easy Joe.
