Very saddened and shocked to hear of Richard’s sudden passing when I arrived at work on Monday. Richard will be fondly remembered by many.

I joined as a placement student 4 years ago under Richard’s team, and will remember him as a very kind man. He was that humble and approachable I didn’t immediately realise him to be the head of department. Richard was very passionate about what he did, very proud of the work we were doing, and proud of the team he had established. He was very big positive contribution towards the careers of I and many others. Richard will also be well remembered for his passion for cycling and love of the Highlands.

Deepest condolences to Joanne, and wider family/friends.

My sincere condolences to Joanne and the wider family on the sudden loss of Richard. You are all very much in my thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

Richard was a true gentleman, and I feel very fortunate to have known and worked with him. I’ll always remember his dry wit, his kindness, and the time he gave so generously to support and guide others. He had a way of making a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He made a real difference to so many of us, and his loss will be deeply felt. He will not be forgotten.

My sincere condolences,
Liam

I was deeply saddened to hear of Richard’s sudden passing. Just last Monday of the same week, we were on our regular call and it's hard to accept that he would not be there for the next one.
He welcomed me on my very first day at SSE, and I will always remember him as a kind, humble, and approachable leader who made others feel at ease.
He will be greatly missed.
My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.
