Ian WilliamDAVIESIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Davies, who passed away peacefully on 10th September while surrounded by loved ones. Ian was a devoted husband to Emma, a dearly loving son to Patricia and Richard; a cherished brother to Jan; and a proud uncle to Josh and Mason. Ian will also be greatly missed by his dogs Martha and Lilly.

A cornerstone of the local community, Ian spent 25 years managing Midway Football Club, leaving an incredible legacy for generations of players and supporters. Ian was always the life and soul of any party, bringing laughter, kindness and light to every occasion. Ian will be sorely missed, but the memories, laughter, and impact he leaves behind will stay with us forever.

Ian's funeral service will be held at Bretby Crematorium (Cedar Chapel) on Friday 2nd October 2026 at 12:45pm.

Following the service, the family warmly invite you to raise a glass and share more memories of Ian at The Mount Pleasant Inn, Mount Pleasant Road, Swadlincote, DE11 9JE

Family request attendees to wear a splash of red.

Family flowers only

Ian was the best manager I ever had who turned into a special friend. We laughed at my interview and never stopped making work and play a joyous occasion in his company.

Too many examples to share but along with many friends and ex colleagues will leave a big hole in our hearts and lives. Gone way too soon.

I'm writing this tribute in absolute shock and disbelief. The news of Ian's passing has truly shaken and deeply saddened me. I first met Ian in Croatia back in 2019, when he walked into my bar for the very first time. He was such a fine, humble man—someone who instantly made a warm, friendly impression on everyone around him. Life writes strange and sometimes painful stories, and this is undoubtedly one of the saddest. Rest in peace, my friend. You will never be forgotten.
