Ken was born in Brixham to Winifred and Robert Short. He was the oldest of 3 siblings- Joan and his late brother, David. When Ken was 6 months old the family moved to Barnstaple. At 15 years old Ken joined the Royal Navy and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was a Weapons Engineer. He retrained as a Teacher and worked in Bruton, Somerset. He moved to Brixham, originally doing supply work but was appointed to White Rock Primary School, mainly teaching year 5 pupils. Ken retired after 18 years at White Rock Primary School. He thoroughly enjoyed his teaching career. Ken was a keen cricketer playing for Brixham Cricket Club. Also enjoying bowls at Totnes and Brixham and skittles, playing for The Woodpeckers and Evergreens.

Ken was a much loved and loving husband. He was loved by his siblings, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service of celebration will be held at Stockman and Loram Service Chapel, Brixham on Monday 12th October at 2.00pm. All welcome. No black attire please.
